====== The Chancellors - Turn 3 News ====== ===== The Metahuman Licensing Act ===== The Security Committee has passed the MLA, but the Security Commissioner, August Geier, has passed it up to the Chancellors as a matter of great importance. Unless the MLA is vetoed in the next few weeks it will be put into action, and it is likely to be expensive to reverse once that has happened. The MLA has support from Felicie Chaput, Voirrey Lusk, Quirijn Vandroogenbroeck and Wandalin Frost, and opposition from Ariel Vance, Eloise Dubois, Mai Ngo and Odhiambo Jenkins. ===== The Economics Commissioner ===== With Odhiambo Jenkins having joined the Chancellors, a new Economics Commissioner is needed. The current candidates are: * Itumeleng Afolayan is another prominent member of the Utopian Drive. Itumeleng takes a gradualist's view on the Drive's policies, but she is nonetheless keen to use economic policies to bring about a fairer world. Itumeleng has the support of Ariel Vance, Eloise Dubois, Mai Ngo and Odhiambo Jenkins. * Jaak Vandroogenbroeck, second cousin of Quirijn Vandroogenbroeck, is a big proponent of big business. His manifesto focusses on human-driven wealth creation, and spurns the automation of industry that is suggested by the Utopian Drive. Jaak currently has the support of Felicie Chaput and Quirijn Vandroogenbroeck. * Ulli Horn is the current commissioner of the Small Businesses Subcommittee. Ulli is famous for his campaigns against super-corps, and has been the deciding factor in several high-profile monopoly break-ups. Ulli currently has the support of Voirrey Lusk and Wandalin Frost. The new Economics Commissioner will be decided in the next couple of weeks, so that the Economics Committee can resume business. ===== The Collateral Limitation Act ===== Ariel Vance has begun discussions on the Collateral Limitation Act, and act that would introduce harsh penalties for all combat between super-powered combatants. This bill is unlikely to extend to the Furies, but it would prevent other super-powered law-enforcement from targeting super-powered criminals. It would also increase the penalties for super-villains who's crimes involve other supers. While the CLA would limit the actions of certain sections of law-enforcement, its proponents insist that the resulting reduction in collateral damage would be more than worth the hassle of having the Furies mobilise to counter every super-powered threat. The CLA is unlikely to be voted upon in the next few weeks.
