====== Storm Meyrick AKA The Shadow ====== Every so often, even now, some old footage or discarded record emerges reporting yet another theft. The circumstances may vary, but the Shadow's influence is clearly there. Master thief and criminal extraordinaire, the Shadow, otherwise known as Storm Meyrick, was so successful thanks to staying just out of sight. Over the course of his life, he worked with the criminal organisation Red Shift, formed in the wake of the Heart of Crime's loss of two of three of its leaders. And while it cannot be denied that his work with Red Shift was impeccable, his true loyalty to Senary and Prime made him one of the more notable shadow thieves of the last century. The Shadow's association with the deaths of Alpha and One, as well as his skill as a master thief, make it unsurprising that he was eventually chosen as Prime's new right hand; replacing Duo, who had then been working as the boss of the Promptuary for several years. Some speculate that the Shadow's involvement in a second organisation struck a chord with Prime, notorious for continuing with his dual identity as Sparrow in Garuda. Throughout his career, the Shadow was pursued by the super serial killer, the Doctor. Some of their fights (see p.378 for photographs) resulted in some impressive collateral damage, but it is unclear whether the Doctor ever managed to capture and kill the Shadow. Illusive though he was, certain 'thefts' resulting in objects swapped rather than stolen, and unsuspecting civilians unexpectedly incriminated remained a key part of the Shadow's modus operandi for much of his active life. This sense of humour, never appreciated by his victims, was one of the aspects of the Shadow's work that set him apart from the other master thieves working at the time. - //Extract from “Living in the Shadows: Criminals of the '70s and '80s” by Amanda Holden//
