Dear Resident,
You hold in your hands the latest issue of Life Among the Stars, your one-stop-shop for everything there is to know about current events in our wonderful Plaza. In just seventy six pages, I will guide you through the triumphs, tears and turmoil that have made the last week so unforgettable.
First up, the news you've all been waiting for: who's who this week?
I'm starting this week's edition of Life with a break from the usual. Instead of talking about the biggest name on the Plaza, I wanted to start with the most unappreciated: our very own Porter. As you all know, The Porter has been a fixture of the Plaza since its very envisioning by Alicia Perkins, all those years ago. Since then, they have been using their portals selflessly and tirelessly, to ensure that we can all reach our homes without the effort of having to use an elevator.
I took the opportunity of a teleport to ask the Porter a few personal questions, to meet the loving soul behind the gruff facade.
Fabrizio: ”Porter, I know you have been working here for longer than any of us… what can you tell me a little bit about yourself?“
The Porter: ”I take people to where they live.“
Fabrizio: ”Fascinating, I'm sure! Can you share any juicy secrets about the residents of the Plaza?“
The Porter: ”No.“
Fabrizio: ”Very well, I can appreciate your devotion to discretion as much as anyone else. Tell me, do you see any interesting comings and goings in the city below the Plaza?“
The Porter: ”Sometimes.”
With that, I was deposited into my apartment, landing perfectly if I do say so myself. Turn to page fifty for my thoughts on this strange character's daily life.
Now, onto bigger things: Ariel Vance, the Executive himself. As ever, seeing Ariel has been just a dream this week, and it is an honour and a privilege to report on him. Of course, he spends most of his time running the City, but I did manage to spot him a couple of times, going to and from his beautiful mansion.
I tried once more to get an exclusive interview with Ariel, just for you, but once more his security turned me away. It's such a shame that his gorgeous mansion has one-way crystal for windows, otherwise I would be able to take some fantastic pictures for everyone to enjoy. Bulletproof and soundproof too, although I can't imagine why anyone would want to shoot at or spy on such a wonderful man.
Speculation is rife that Ariel is soon to launch his campaign to become Executive, and I, for one, can't wait. The speeches, the receptions, the events… Breathtaking. Stay tuned, as I will be bringing you the first news of the campaign, live as it unfolds, in a special edition of Life. In the meantime, page seven has all the speculation, for those who, like me, just can't get by on facts alone.
Turning away from our majestic Executive, just for a moment, I bring you the most scandalous news of the week! Mr. Gabriel H. Faulkner using the elevator! We all know that the Porter doesn't like Polaris, but to refuse to take our very own Gabriel to his own penthouse!
Gabriel's wonderful glass apartment (I still can't believe it was a gift, and from Celeste L'Eclair of all people!) lets me bring you all of his reactions to this shocking turn of events. Turn to page fifty two for the videos. I even managed to get a recording, and you won't believe your ears!
I'd like to bring you more news on the evacuation we all suffered through a couple of months ago, caused by that dastardly Captain Price. As we all know, the Captain mistook our very own Tondra for a villain with a bomb! Of course a man coming home from his job at Polaris would have traces of explosives on him!!! Why wouldn't he??? Anyway, I digress, this is old news… The twist is that, even though the courts ruled against Price, there are rumours that someone might be suing Tondra for negligence!
For more, including a very revealing interview with Tondra himself, turn to page fourty five.
Now for our monthly special: an exclusive look at one of the Plaza's wonderful establishments. This month: Mom & Pop!
As I entered the store, I was greeted warmly by Runa, the delightful young lady on the door. She showed me to the front room, where I met Holden, Jessica and Telmo, the extraordinary Mom & Pop sales assistants. I was led around the entire shop, and they even let me see the back room!
I confess, I don't have children, so I have no idea what anything in Mom & Pop is actually for, but you'll love my accounts of the people who work there! Turn to page twenty three for everything.
We have a bumper haul of your photos this week, covering everything from sunset through the forcefield and some spectacular views over the city through to Mr. Coupe's beautiful garden and Kirtida's new hoverboard. Turn to page thirty one to look through all of them.
The Young Lookout are looking for a new leader after Ms. Hagebak had to retire. If you enjoy working with kids, then this could be your way to give something back to our community. Contact Ms. Hagebak herself for more information.
Next week, I will be bringing you all the latest, on life-changing events that haven't even happened yet! Will Ariel launch his campaign? will Telmo find true love? will Gabriel settle his differences with the Porter? Life Among the Stars is the only place to find out!
Yours, as always,
Fabrizio x
