In a gripping ballot, the Executive of Capital City has been chosen. In a shock to the polls, the results are:
Just days after becoming the third Chancellor, David Blake, CEO of Polaris industries, has been declared dead. By-elections to decide his replacement will happen in six months time.
The vigilante- hacker known as Grey Wolf has been killed resisting arrest following a raid two days ago that cost two officers their lives. Investigations are currently under way to determine events and to analyse the evidence found in Grey Wolf's possession.
Actions by the Heart, aided by Grimm and Mercy, as well as unknown others, have released the inmates of Tartarus. The fighting which broke out during the escape caused several deaths - both due to infighting of the supervillains, and several guards.
The complex has been utterly destroyed - the Matterhorn itself has crumbled, with the resulting quake felt across Capital City. Due to the massive wave of fighting that has erupted, and the huge numbers of newly-released supervillains, Gladius has been mobilised. Phalanx drones can be seen hovering over most of Capital City and the surrounding areas, occasionally swooping in to engage an escapee until backup arrives.
The following have been confirmed as killed in the prison break or the resulting fighting1):
SPEAR personnel:
Supervillains 2):
The following supervillains are known to have escaped:
Several hundred others are unaccounted for - they may either be escaped, or buried in the rubble.
A series of pictures have been making the rounds showing Eris, a member of the Furies, taking bribes from Heart operatives. The pictures were first distributed in papers, but were soon picked up by the internet and became widely spread.
There has since been widespread controversy, combining with the outrage of the spear from a few months ago, leaving many questioning the suitability of SPEAR as an organisation.
It is unknown who distributed the images.
In a climactic siege on Scotland's foremost opera house, the most-wanted villain known to most as “Deaddrop” was captured. The resulting fight destroyed the opera house. It has been reported that Garuda's mech Quetzalcoatl was at the scene, along with a large SPEAR taskforce. The first Chancellor, Ariel Vance, was also reported to be present. “Deaddrop” is now in SPEAR custody, awaiting sentencing.
Reports of sudden settling in tides, weather patterns, and animal behavior were reported last month. Investigation showed that almost all of the missing Moon mass has been restored in a short period of time - scientists estimate that there is only 2% still missing, a vast improvement on the previous situation. Preliminary investigations comparing the new mass and previously obtained data on the old indicates that it is almost completely the same. No organisation or individuals have yet confessed to being behind this endeavor, but people all over the world are celebrating the problem-solver(s).
Petra Perica, beloved daughter of the fabulously wealthy Pierre-Yves Perica and Elenore Perica, has been declared missing by her distraught parents. The Perica family have offered generous rewards for any information that leads to their daughter's swift return, and a warning that this money will be deducted from her allowances if she does not have a good reason for going missing.
There are widespread rumours that SPEAR attempted to influence the elections, in order to place Mister I as the executive. SPEAR and Mister I were both unavailable for comment.
The following Act is now law in Capital City:
Licenses are available from the Licensing Commission, which is located in Parliament and will open as soon as a Commissioner is appointed.
(OOC: Applying for a license is a minor action - the Licensing Commission will open this turnsheet)
A recent 'raid' on the Golden Age Retirement Home saw one of the main housing buildings turned to gingerbread and pecked by pigeons. Dozens of ageing supers of all alignments have been released into Capital City. Old nemeses are fighting each other in the streets, causing massive property destruction. Grandsupers are teaching their grandchildren to follow in their footsteps - often involving some variation of applying fire to surroundings. Mr Brackenbury, manager of the retirement home, is trying to simultaneously oversee property repair and recruit help to get these dangerous supers off the streets and back into the Home. In interview, he blames Grimm and the Pigeon for much of the damage to both property and people in the Home.
All of the supporters for THE PIGEON as executive have been reported attempting to vote twice. Both voters (THE PIGEON and Alan), were briefly talked to by police, before being released with cautions.
Shinonome Laboratories have posted a request for any information on the rogue AI known as ASAGI, the Autonomous Scientific Artificial General Intelligence. The AI was originally intended to be a scientist, but gained awareness and begun expressing unsettling views on humanity. The project was shut down, but the AI was able to escape.
People should be warned that ASAGI contains a hard light holographic projector allowing it to effectively disguise itself as a human.
[An amount of Drachma equal in value to two resource points is posted below the article]
There are widespread rumours that the Heart invaded the elections. Their aim? Placing their candidate, Mister I, on the executive's seat. A source close to Mister I suggests that Mister I would like to thank the Heart for all their hard work.
Recent events at Stargaze Plaza have rendered much of the building uninhabitable. A firefight breaking out in the apartment of one Gabriel Faulkner, former Chief Legal Officer of Polaris Industries, along with a devestating lightning strike later that month, have caused enough damage that the entire building is currently considered structurally unsound.
In other news, the lightning storms plaguing Capital City finally appear to have come to a halt.
The Rothwell Science Park suffered extensive damaged this week following the summoning of a 5 meter tall demon in the centre. The summoning, and ensuing battle was largely responsible for the destruction of several buildings, and the downing of a helicopter. Amazingly only 2 individuals (the helicopter pilots) were killed in the events.
Plans to rebuild the sections of the park have already begun, with Alicia Perkins (the Architect behind the most recent set of designs) being apparently involved in the new buildings.
Reports have come in stating that the Moai, previously assumed to have died due to lack of movement or any indication of life suddenly all stood and left the island, disappearing into the sea in the direction of Australia. No sign of them has been seen since then however, so where their final destination is is as of yet unknown.
Several areas of capital city are suffering from loss of power recently. The fault has not been identified, but it is suspected that the power cables linking the core to the city have been severed. The above-ground portion of the wires have been checked for damage, and all appear to be fine, suggesting that a portion of the wire under lake Geneva is at fault.
Technicians say they are working as hard as they can to fix the problem, and are hoping to fix the problem shortly. However given the location of the faults, they are looking for anyone with powers who may be able to assist in the underwater operation.
A series of bank heists were pulled across various branches of Bertrand and Rycroft over the last week. The individual behind the attacks could not be identified, although appeared to have a black “blade” attached to their left arm, able to cut through most materials, as well as being able to teleport. A magpie feather was also left at the scene of each crime, possibly linking it to the previous attack.
Police are still investigating, although any information about the individual in question should make themselves known.
