This page tells you what you, as someone involved in Gamasot Laboratories, need or ought to know beyond public knowledge of this organisation. Please also note that the information available here is not all there is, it is simply what would be known to the ranks available at game start. As you progress in the organisation, more information may become available. Alternatively, you may come across things while investigating. Whether you decide to share this information with others is up to you. However, the GMs ask that you relay this information in your own words instead of simply showing others the organisation brief, to maintain a sense of IC authenticity. The GM in charge of this organisation is Jabberwocky. If you have any questions related to this organisation, feel free to get in touch with them.
The head of the Hospitals Initiative, Dr Serafim is a popular figure in the city. Within Gamasot itself, she's known for her stern approach to anybody disrupting the order of the Initiative, of which she is evidently extremely proud - having claimed its status as the city's superior medical service both repeatedly and publically. She's generally well-liked within the company: while she pushes her employees hard, most find this difficult to resent - her attitude towards the Hospitals Initiative is apparently infectious. Her superpower is rarely used to heal one person entirely, making it difficult to know its exact capabilities, but is instead generally used to stamp out the initial infections in patients.
Responsible for maintaining the transport links with manufacturing, as well as Primary, Trace is the man to ask if you need to find out where your latest batch of equipment has got to (Sweden, apparently), where exactly your experimental drugs are (recalled for further testing), or what the latest gossip is (scurrilous, and all about Primary).
“Welcome to the Choi Dome. Public trials are located to your left. All other visitors, please report to reception. Copies of 'The Seven Step Guide to Gamasot Success' by Martin Falk can be purchased in the gift shop on your way out” - Automated Announcement
The Choi Dome, located near Lake Geneva, is Gamasot's new corporate headquarters. The administration and legal department is housed in the lakeside half, whereas the rest is given over to those researchers working outside the Hospitals Initiative. The large grounds are used mainly by employees, and these as well as the surprisingly good onsite restaurant are the cause of a great deal of envy between certain administrators in the Dome and the Hospitals Initiative. While the recent construction of the Dome has meant Gamasot has avoided Jeeves' cluster of outbuildings, several extra-dome structures do exist, mostly medical warehouses.
“Those working on the new retinal implants now have G3 clearance. Please cooperate with Oversight in ensuring full collaboration with your colleagues in Primary Testing.” - Dr Serafim
The most secretive - and hence the most speculated over between employees - of Gamasot's facilities, Primary Testing was constructed between 1970 and 1980 in western Australia, taking advantage of the recently depopulated continent. The company in fact purchased most of the continent over the following decades. While employees know more of its operations than the general public, the knowledge available is still a mixture of corporate announcements, the occasional nugget of personal experience, and a great deal of office rumour.
Primary Testing is split into a number of working groups, each responsible for a major area of research. Subsections that prove more broadly useful and profitable are often spun off in turn into their own divisions. Those working at Gamasot facilities outside Primary Testing will generally be collaborating directly with one particular group, so few outside know the total number: while some are public knowledge, others are obscure, or even long defunct. Division 1 represents main drug development. Division 2 is responsible for the development of medical equipment, such as portable anethetisers, and works closely with the Hospitals Initiative. Division 3 is a specialised antibiotic group. Division 6 is related to cybernetic augmentation and rejection treatment, and responsible for the new batches of ADAPT. Division 7 never existed, and whatever didn't happen to it apparently makes the CEO exceedingly irritated when asked.
Those employed at Primary Testing are Gamasot's elite: those scientists who have been proven on a major secondary collaboration, or even their own unique research. It also plays host to Oversight, the group responsible for inspecting all other Gamasot facilities, and maintaining the links between the various Divisions and those working with them. While every department outside Primary Testing is technically subject to Oversight - and Oversight inspectors have authority surpassed only by the executives themselves - Capital City is only infrequently subjected to their attentions, due to the presence of the main Gamasot administration there.
While the facility has become largely self-sufficient over the past century, it still requires supplies, and ships out the occasional test batch. These are generally sent via a small port near Lake MacLeod, which requires entirely too frequent repairs, according to those given the task.
“As representatives of Gamasot Laboratories to the Summits, please take care in your interactions with Jeeves personnel. To be frank, we suspect them of corporate espionage. While any information on their activities should be reported, ensure that they do not learn more of us than necessary - the Hospitals Initiative is a delicate process, and a vulnerable one. Those of you with G7 clearance, report to me after the meeting for a brief on our past interactions” - James Choi, Pre-Summit Meeting
“They've been genuinely helpful. The possibility of magical healing techniques is certainly an idea we wish to investigate further, and perhaps they can assist us.” - Martin Falk
Dr Kelly Moon, Head of Research and the woman in charge of the Primary Testing facility has recently arrived in Capital City for an extended visit. Sources close to her and the CEO claim they now have been in conference for days, only leaving for a brief inspection of the Hospitals Initiative. Gossip is rife as to her purpose here - Dr Moon has very rarely left Australia - but the most popular explanation is simply a recognition of the tenth anniversary of the Hospitals Initiative, along with the opportunity to oversee closer integration between it and Division 3. She seems to have brought a large entourage of Primary Testing scientists with her. Apparently she'll be consulting with the employees here soon.
Dr Marama Serafim, more popularly known as Asklepios for her healing abilities, has announced the expansion of the Hospitals Initiative to five new sites citywide. Plans for the new hospitals and clinics are available for viewing in the Choi Dome, and the properties in question have been purchased. “We're all very proud of the Initiative's progress, and this cements our place in Capital City as the foremost provider of medical care”, she announced in a press conference outside the Choi Dome. The contract with the Committee for the Hospitals Initiative's provision of medical care to Capital City citizens is up for renewal soon, but Dr Serafim has expressed her confidence that they will once more opt to renew the services.
In a more private address to employees, she noted that several hospitals have been reporting suspicious behaviour, including apparent sightings of surveillance equipment, as well as inaccuracies in equipment inventories. She expressed a wish for any employees willing to aid in investigating these sightings to come forward and work with the Initiative, and hinted at the possibility of JeevesCorp responsibility.
All employees should remember to attend their bimonthly free medical exam. We at Gamasot are at the forefront of medical science, and our workers should be in the best health possible. Don't put others at risk - get yourself examined today!
