Strength in the face of adversity. Devotion to your cause. Righteous anger at the injustices of the world. Whatever he was before becoming a Knight of the Round Table, Sir Gawain has showed throughout his time with the Knights that he is always willing to fight the good fight.
He is well known for both his level headedness at the negotiation table, and his fierceness on the battlefield. Indeed, his mech, the Aquila, has been known top turn the tide of many a conflict simply by its presence on the battlefield.
His work with Garuda has led to extended cooperation between them, SPEAR and the Knights, resulting in most of the group no longer having to fear reprisal for their activites.1)
Because of the qualities he displayed and his unwavering devotion to justice, Sir Gawain is a well known figure even centuries after his disappearance…

It's over. You've fought to your last breath, and while you were dealt a fatal blow in the end, you know with certainty that your sacrifice has saved thousands from those you were fighting.
You close your eyes as you feel yourself bleeding out. Your life was perhaps shorter than most, but any regrets you may have once had are long since distant memories. After so long fighting, you can finally be at peace.
“I'm afraid it's not going to be that easy.”
You open your eyes to find yourself in a black void, face to face with an old aquaintance. LifeDeath stands before you, looking as always like two people occupying one space.
“It's been a long time, Samuel Marvin,” they speak, their face unreadable, “Last time you came here, we made a deal. I assume you remember.”
Of course you do, although it was long ago. In exchange for bringing you back, LifeDeath tasked you with ensuring Mercy came out on top of their conflict with Punishment.
A task you eventually abandoned.
“I have decided what to take in return,” they speak, and the void fades away to reveal a wasteland as far as the eye can see.
“The year is 3098, and mankind is on the brink of destruction. War has ravaged much of the planet. Your task is to bring balance back to the world. Any more than that, I cannot say.” The figure raises an arm to point behind you. “Look.”
You turn, and behind you stands a familiar sight. The black and gold may have been replaced by layers of rust, but Aquila is still just recognisable.
“This is your life now, Samuel Marvin. Whenever things are so dire that even I am allowed to act to a degree, you will act as my agent to fix whatever needs fixing.”
Still reeling from all this, you nonetheless grimly nod and begin walking towards your old mech.
“Oh and Samuel?” LifeDeath calls out after you, “You might want to get comfortable. You're going to be doing this for a very long time.”
So in death, as in life, you continued to do battle until the end of days.
